Kids Say the Darndest Things: Part II

Samuel ceases to, not necessarily amaze us, but amuse us. Lately, we've been laughing at him when he's playing pretend.

...I overheard him playing with his trucks and telling them "I told you, listen!" Gee, I wonder where he's heard that before?
...We've been going to the Chick-fil-A drive-thru almost every Wednesday. Nathan has officer's training class at church on Wednesdays at 5:30 and I usually take the opportunity to go into town to get a few errands done. So we take the easy way out and get fast food. This last time I was ordering, Samuel was in the back seat saying, "I'd like chicken nuggests please" shouting to the drive-thru speaker.
...Today he was playing with a pretend cash register. I walked out of the room and heard him say, "Yes, I'd like a number 2 please." Oh brother, I guess we go through the drive thru a bit too much.

And we wonder if all of our pressure we put on him is getting through. He's been bashful to speak to adults at church in the past few months. We've had to work on him about looking people in the eye and saying, "Hello. Nice to meet you." Today I had to take the boys to school for a bit and he, without hardly any prompting, spoke straight to the adults we came across and even introduced his little brother. "This is baby Mafew."

Thank you God for convincing us that perseverence in training to listen and using manners will pay off. This past year, we were wondering if it was ever going to bear fruit. It's beginning to bud. Sigh! :)
