While I'm waiting for dinner to cook (we're having beef stroganoff), I thought I'd write down a few favorite things which I love while they are on my mind.
- Fall - It's my favorite time of year. Nathan and I just got back from a mini-date walking downtown and having coffee in Gallery Espresso. Savannah is beautiful - well, any time of year, but especially in the cooler temperatures and fall colors.
- Homeschoolers - I love the freedom that homeschooling lends. Two of our best babysitters are homeschoolers, well, actually CollegePlus girls, and they are great to be available on short notice. And +++ they have a great, strong work ethic! Most of the time when I return, the dishwasher is unloaded, and a load of laundry is folded. That's all in addition to playing trains and cars and taking the boys outside. Fabulous girls!
- Independent Presbyterian Church - Not only do we receive fabulous, strong Biblical teaching each time we attend services, but the fellowship is amazing. I can not tell you how much our church family has provided for us - a job, hand-me-down maternity clothes, toys, clothes for the boys - all on top of great friends. The body of Christ is amazing! Plus, the building of IPC is gorgeous and so historical. Lowell Mason, one of America's best hymn lyricists was a member. President Woodrow Wilson married a former pastor's daughter there. We even have a special room remodeled to look like the room where they married.
- Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Mmmmmmmmmmmm, my husband actually makes fun of me because of my love for the chocolate covered creme filled doughnuts. I will down 3-4 in one sitting.
- Target - Okay, who doesn't love this store!
- Psalm 146:1-2 "Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being." This was my prayer earlier this week - that I would truly praise the Lord with all my being for as long as I live. I fall so short of this in my heart of hearts. I like verse 9a, too, "The Lord watches over the sojourners." Thank you God for watching over us as we sojourn through this part of life looking for a job and trying to manage a tight budget.
- Long sleeve shirts - This is connected with #1. Fall weather is perfect for long sleeve shirts. They give me such comfort. Ahhhhh
- Live performances - This is connected to #1 also. While we were walking around Savannah today, we walked through Ellis Square and City Market. There was a couple of guitar players in the plaza. It was fun to sit, listen and watch their facial expressions as they sang.
- The color brown - I guess this is my favorite color, along with green and red, because most of my clothes are brown, green and red.
- And from the title of this post, The Sound of Music, is one of my favorite movies.
